Superintendent: Urgent HTSD Safety Communication
Dear Hampton school community,
You may have heard that Hampton Township School District, along with several other local districts, has been the target of a potential threat of a school shooting. The Hampton Township Police Department made HTSD aware of this threat earlier this evening, and we immediately began working with them to investigate. We are aware that there have been other non-credible threats made against schools circulating in our region over the past several days.
However, at this time the Hampton Township Police Department is investigating the threat in conjunction with the local jurisdiction where the threat originated to determine its credibility. We will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the night and remain in close communication with the police department on further developments. At this time we are planning on proceeding with the school day tomorrow as normal, with increased police presence at all of our school buildings.
However, if we receive any additional information from the police department that may impact our plans to safely conduct school tomorrow, we will share that decision with the school community immediately.
We know how concerning this information is for our families and staff, and we wanted to communicate this with you as soon as possible. HTSD takes every threat very seriously and will continue to be vigilant in following our safety protocols.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael R. Loughead
Superintendent
